TDF Internship Program
The TDF Internship Program is an innovative initiative placing entrepreneurially minded UMD students with TDF, a Washington, DC-based venture capital fund focused on the communications sector. This partnership managed by Mtech in the A. James Clark School of Engineering provides UM undergraduate and graduate students with an opportunity to practice entrepreneurship alongside active venture capitalists and leading technology entrepreneurs.
Student activities include performing market analysis, analyzing new business opportunities, devising a market entry strategy, contributing to new product development, assessing competitors, developing marketing materials, and/or developing financial models/plans. Students may work within TDF’s office and/or with TDF existing or candidate portfolio companies. Details of the firm are available at www.tdfund.com.
Students interested in applying should have completed at least one for-credit entrepreneurship course prior to starting in the role and have a cumulative GPA of 3.0. Telecommunications expertise and prior work experience are preferred. All participating students will complete a preliminary training program managed by Mtech.
Timeline & Location
This is a ten-week, full-time, on-site summer experience based at TDF’s offices in Chevy Chase, Maryland.
In addition to work developed by the student specifically for TDF and its affiliates, students will develop a presentation and paper documenting their experiences and contributions at the end of each project. This is due to Mtech one week after the summer internship concludes.
Summer compensation for the ten-week term is $8,000. Interns do not earn academic credit.
Interested eligible students should submit a cover letter and resume to firstname.lastname@example.org with the email subject of “TDF Internship Application.” A select number of students will be contacted to schedule an interview. Two positions are expected to be filled for the summer term.
